The Minecraft JourneyMap modpack is the most downloaded minimap mod in the game! It is the perfect mod for having a live minimap in the top right of your screen, marking waypoints, tracking where you have already explored in your world, seeing nearby mobs and animals, and much more…

1. Jarfix

The very first step is to install Jarfix. Even if you have installed it in the past, I recommend re-installing the latest version. Without Jarfix, or with an outdated version of Jarfix, any downloaded MC mods, texture packs, and maps will not launch successfully.

This button link is for Windows users only. If you use a different system, search on Google for ‘Java (whichever system you use)’.

2. Forge

Forge is a crucial installation for this minimap modpack to be able to run.

Make sure you install the same Forge version as the JourneyMap mod version. So in this example, we need to install the 1.21.4 Forge version as the latest JourneyMap mod (at this current time) is available to be downloaded in 1.21.4.

Once you have clicked install for Forge 1.21.4, open your downloads folder and open the Forge download launcher. Click ‘Install Client’ and then wait for the installation to finish.

3. JourneyMap Modpack

Click the button above which takes you through to the latest JourneyMap modpack installation page. Click on ‘Files’ and then you need to match the game version column to the same Forge version you just installed. So in this example, I need to install a 1.21.4 version. You then need to match the Mod Loader column to Forge. If you are still unsure, you can filter your search to ‘1.21.4’ and ‘Forge’ above the mod file list.

4. Minecraft Mods Folder

You have installed JourneyMap but we now need to move it into our Minecraft Mods folder. To locate our mods folder, type %appdata% into your Windows search bar. Then select your Roaming Folder, then your Minecraft Folder, then Mods. Keep this folder open whilst opening your downloads folder. Then drag and drop, or copy and paste the JourneyMap download into your Minecraft Mods folder.

5. Launching MC

Once you have followed these 4 steps, you’re ready to go. Open up your Minecraft Launcher and launch Forge 1.21.4. You may need to create a new installation but usually, Forge will appear in your installations when you relaunch Minecraft.
